HKU Business School offers a full spectrum of specialised disciplines, providing a diverse array of academic pathways for students. These programmes are designed to support students in developing their expertise and leadership skills, thereby preparing graduates for success in the global business environment.
The standard duration for completing the programmes is two academic years. However, students have the option to accelerate their studies and complete the programme within one academic year. The structure allows for flexibility while maintaining a rigorous academic schedule.
Our Masters programmes are structured on a modular basis, allowing students to concentrate on one area of study at a time. Each academic year consists of six modules, with each module lasting between six to eight weeks, including the examination week. Typically, students undertake 2-3 courses per module, with two lectures scheduled for each course each week.
All courses within the HKU Business School Masters programmes are conducted in English, ensuring a comprehensive and inclusive educational environment that caters to our diverse student body.
Assessments are designed to evaluate students’ understanding and application of course material. This may include assignments, mid-term examinations, project papers, presentations, and other forms of coursework. A final examination is typically held at the end of each course, unless otherwise specified, enabling students to effectively demonstrate their knowledge and skills.
Students who have failed a course are required to retake the course, or to take another course as a substitute if the failed course is an elective. Students who need to repeat a core course outside the normative study period or take another elective course as a substitute are required to pay a repeating fee or an additional course fee. To graduate, students must not exceed two failures during their entire period of study and must achieve a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or above.
Please refer to individual programme for specific requirements on number of courses/credits required.
