IHSS
The Hong Kong Institute for the Humanities and Social Sciences (IHSS), established in 2001 at HKU, has a mission to promote innovative, multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary research and teaching in the humanities and social sciences, with a focus on China. The Institute seeks to provide a vibrant hub for studying the multi-facets of the Chinese civilization and its long developmental history using both new and traditional approaches.
Our research is currently grouped into five major themes:
- Quantitative History (QH)
- Chinese Business History (CBH)
- Asian Religious Connections (ASIAR)
- Delta on the Move: The Becoming of the Greater Bay Region, 1700 – 2000 (DoM)
- Faith and Global Engagement (FGE)
